The Race

I don’t have a link to a video this time. Couldn’t find it on the Twitch channels, so it must have timed out. Special thanks to Chewbakkah and X Mr Plankton X for streaming the race regardless. This was by far the most casualty heavy race we’ve had so far, but it was the Nurburgring, so it wasn’t entirely unexpected.

THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS

This was definitely a very messy race, and the highest casualty race we’ve had in the series thus far. Four people disconnected. I think everyone had a lap of nursing the car into the pits for damage repair. People were pushing each other around the track trying to get to the pits. Driving off track caused many of crashes, because fuck the grass on the Nurburgring. The TeamSpeak server got knocked out with half an hour left. Despite all of this, I think the race went pretty well. It was the Nurburgring after all. It is the longest, hardest (lol that’s what she said) track in the game. We all knew going in that there were going to be some casualties. It could have been a lot worse. The GTs and LMPs didn’t overlap very much for the whole race, which probably helped keep it on the cleaner side. Even the TeamSpeak issues were not that big of a deal, as it was out of any of our controls and we all made the swap to gamechat pretty quickly. All of this being said, we did have three people new to the series at this race, and I have to say that this was probably the worst race to have as a first one. Regardless, I hope it didn’t sour you to the series and that you make an appearance at the next race.

Speaking of which, our next race is the biggest race of the series and potentially whole year: Le Mans. I don’t really have anything to say about the plan here as I already have the planning post up. I will say the results of the polls so far, though. Right now, the most popular is Sunday the 19th, simulation damage is the most popular option, and people are preferring Forza’s rolling start marginally. I’m going to leave the polls open until tomorrow night, then finalize the plan for Le Mans. I’m expecting a lot of people to show for this one, as historically this race has always attracted the most people. I’m also expecting it to be another war of attrition like the Nurburgring was, but with hopefully less crashes.

Time to start preparing for what is essentially the Super Bowl of this series! If I can break it into the 3:22s, my favorite car might even make an appearance...
