Here is the season conclusion post for The 2016 Oppositelock Forza 6 Endurance Championship. Included here is the post race for round 12, season highlights, the final points standings, and some info about what to expect in 2017.
I couldn’t find the replay for this one, but it was streamed by multiple people, so it’s floating around out there somewhere. We picked up a few extra people as opposed to Yas Marina, which made for an eventful race. Special thanks to Viggen and Rudi SRT4 for streaming the race, and to Little Black Coupe for being the pace car.

This was definitely a prototype focused race, which was terrifying. Passing in the esses was sketchy at best. Though having a good number of prototypes to make battle with was nice. It’s been a while since there were a lot of prototypes, and the first time prototypes outnumbered GTs. There was still plenty of good racing though. And a fair number of crashes. I think everyone wound up off track at some point during the race. That’s VIR, I guess. Anyway, I thought it was a fitting finale for the series. I kind of wish we could have gotten more people, but I never expected to maintain a driver count of 20 for a full year.

Now as far as I know, Chevrolet and Mazda are not on Oppo, so I emailed them to make sure they got their awards. I’m sure the prestigious trophies will be displayed alongside the Le Mans winning 787b and Corvettes.
Personally, I had a lot of fun running and participating in this series. There was always great racing and banter. Although, I have to say this was a little ambitious of an undertaking for my first real racing series. When I first had the idea for this back in November of last year, I don’t think I really anticipated how much planning and prep would go not just into the whole series, but each and every race. Every race required at least 6 hours of BOP work, not to mention time dedicated to pre and post races. It was a major commitment for me, but I think it worked out. There were some things like BOP that could have been a bit more polished in some cases, but I still would consider the series a success.
So now the big question is what lies next. My next series will be 1970s F1. I’ve worked out BOP for that, which will remain constant all season thankfully, and I’m finalizing the track list and rules sheet. Races will be biweekly rather than monthly with fixed dates, and I’m targeting a start date of mid January. However, to kick off 2017 I will be running a 2.4 Hours of Daytona with Daytona Prototype, P2, and GT cars. Yep that’s right. No more ifs and probably from me. The Oppositelock 2.4 Hours of Daytona is confirmed. I’m still working out BOP for that, but I’m looking to hold it on the 7th of January at the usual time of 4:30 PM EST. So expect posts about the Daytona 2.4 before F1 since it is happening sooner.
And lastly, I want to thank and congratulate each and everyone of you for participating in my racing series. If it wasn’t for you guys, this whole thing would have just been me driving LMP cars all day mumbling about how the GT-R LM is superior to everything. Not to mention that your fantastic driving made for some of the best racing I’ve ever participated in. Here’s hoping 2017 is the same way.
